Unlocking the Power of PDGF+ in Aesthetics

A Game-Changer for Skin Rejuvenation

If you’re in the world of aesthetics (or just obsessed with all things skin), then you know that the industry is constantly evolving. New products, new techniques, new ways to keep our skin looking wild and beautiful.

One of the biggest buzzwords floating around right now is PDGF+ (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor), and after a deep dive into the research and hands-on application, I have thoughts. Buckle up, because we’re getting into the nitty-gritty of what PDGF+ is, why it’s causing a stir, and how I’m incorporating it at Wild & Beautiful.

So, What’s the Deal with PDGF+?

Let’s start with the basics: PDGF+ is a lab-created, synthetically cloned growth factor that stimulates regeneration of skin, muscle, fat, and collagen—everything but nerves.

It’s FDA-cleared for injection into joints, bone regeneration, and even diabetic ulcers, which means it’s been around in the medical world for quite some time. The big shift? Aesthetic injectors are now leveraging it to enhance skin quality, reduce volume loss, and improve overall facial balance.

Why am I excited about it? Because it fills a gap between filler and biostimulators like Sculptra. It’s not about just adding volume—it’s about regenerating tissue and improving skin structure in a way that’s natural and long-lasting. And for patients who aren’t quite ready for filler or need an alternative for the tear trough area (goodbye, Tyndall effect!), PDGF+ is looking like a solid option.

How PDGF+ Stacks Up Against Other Treatments

I know what you’re thinking: “Jen, I already have my PRP/PRF, my Sculptra, my RHA filler… do I really need another injectable in my arsenal?” Great question! Here’s the breakdown:

  • PDGF+ vs. PRP/PRF: While PRP/PRF has been a go-to for years, the reality is that the quality of your PRP depends on your patient’s age, health, and lifestyle. If they’re over 40 or not exactly drinking green juice and meditating daily, their PRP might not be all that effective. PDGF+ removes that variable by delivering a standardized, lab-created, highly concentrated dose of growth factors every time.

  • PDGF+ vs. Sculptra: Both stimulate collagen, but PDGF+ works faster and more for areas like the under-eyes, forehead, and lips where Sculptra isn’t recommended.

  • PDGF+ vs. Exosomes: Exosomes still have that regulatory gray area, whereas PDGF+ is FDA-cleared and backed by solid science. There are great exosomes, and not so great - which is often hard for the patient to know what they’re buying.

How I’m Using PDGF+ at Wild & Beautiful

After testing and tweaking, here’s how I’m integrating PDGF+ into treatments:

🔥 Tear Troughs: Perfect for patients who aren’t candidates for filler and need something more potent than PRF for skin thickening and rejuvenation.

🔥 Forehead Lines & Wrinkles: I’m pairing it with Botox to improve skin quality while softening movement.

🔥 Jawline & Marionette Lines: Helps improve structure and reduces crepey skin around the lower face.

🔥 Neck Rejuvenation: Using a cannula or micro-aliquot technique to strengthen the skin and reduce laxity.

🔥 Hair Restoration: Mixed with saline and injected into the scalp for incredible hair regrowth results.

The Injection Technique: Go Deep or Go Home

One thing to keep in mind—depth matters. Inject PDGF+ too superficially and you risk lumps, bumps, and swelling. I go deep in the tear troughs, on periosteum for bone support, and in the mid-dermis for skin tightening.

Cannulas work well for temples and neck, while needles offer more precision for targeted areas.

As for dilution, my go-to ratios are:

💉 1.5 mL bacteriostatic saline + 0.5 mL PDGF+ for under eyes & hair restoration.

💉 2.0 mL bacteriostatic saline + 0.5 mL PDGF+ for forehead, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and neck.

Final Thoughts: Who’s It For?

If you’re an injector looking to level up your regenerative treatments, PDGF+ is absolutely worth considering.

If you’re a patient wondering if this is for you, my answer is: if you’re noticing volume loss, skin laxity, or under-eye hollowness, this could be your new best friend.

Would I recommend PDGF+ over PRP/PRF? In most cases, yes. Would I use it instead of filler? Not necessarily—but as a complementary treatment? 1000% yes.

If you want to book a consultation and see if PDGF+ is right for you, you know where to find me! Let’s keep Austin glowing, one growth factor at a time. ✨
